Provides a hands-on opportunity to manage a<br />

stock portfolio in an interactive competition. Students<br />

begin with a fictional $100,000 on account<br />

and 20 trades. Topics include money, capital markets,<br />

stocks, bonds, fiscal and monetary policies,<br />

business cycles, and financial statement analysis.<br />

Introduces the functional areas of human resource<br />

management and laws. Students discuss<br />

job analysis, recruitment, testing, interviewing,<br />

selection, placement, training, wage and salary<br />

administration, performance evaluation, and labor<br />

Project Management • 5 CR<br />

Examines the theory and practice of project management<br />

from a managerial perspective. Students<br />

define projects, determine resources requirements,<br />

write requests for proposals, outline contract requirements,<br />

define and sequence tasks, and create<br />

project schedules. Recommended: Concurrent enrollment<br />

in BTS 280.<br />

Presents organization and management principles<br />

as applied to both for-profit and non-profit entities.<br />

Students apply theories to actual management<br />

Introduction to ethical theories relevant to issues<br />

and problems in business. Explores ethical concerns<br />

in marketing, race/gender bias, economics, the<br />

natural environment, employee-employer duties,<br />

and civic relations. Same as PHIL 260. Either G BUS<br />

260 or PHIL 260 may be taken for credit, not both.<br />

Business Internship I • 2 CR<br />

Develops the skills necessary for an effective job<br />

search. Topics covered include résumés, cover letters,<br />

interviews, job searches, and portfolios. Course<br />

is graded “credit/no credit.” Prerequisite: Entry code.<br />

Business Internship II • V1-10 CR<br />

Continues G BUS 291, with students working at<br />

least 15 hours weekly in an industry related to<br />

their studies. Students meet weekly with instructor<br />

and discuss their work activities. Course is graded<br />

“credit/no credit.” Variable credit based on hours<br />

worked in internship. Prerequisite: Entry code.<br />

economic activities, and resources.<br />

World Regional Geography • 5 CR<br />

Studies world geographical relationships. Students<br />

analyze and interpret demographic, economic,<br />

political, social, and resource distribution patterns<br />

in the contemporary world, as well as the factors<br />

leading to these regional distributions and the interrelationships<br />

among them.<br />

Geography of World Affairs • 5 CR<br />

Offers a geographical perspective on contemporary<br />

world problems. Students investigate economic,<br />

demographic, social, political, cultural,<br />

and environmental issues, with emphasis on interrelationships,<br />
