Diesel Hybrid and Electric buses are equipped with electric components similar to those mounted on fuel cell buses (e.g. electric drive trains, battery packs). A large scale rollout of these technologies could ease fuel cell commercialisation, helping to optimise the required control power electronics. Q1f Would you agree with this vision? We aim to provide evidence for foreseeable cost reductions for fuel cell buses in the coming years. One potential approach would analyse the buses‟ cost structure and identify possible breakthroughs in the components. We identify 10 main components in the fuel cell buses cost structure, as follows: Chassis, Body, Fuel Cell modules, Cooling System, Energy Storage systems, Hydrogen Storage Tanks, Control Power Electronics, Labour, Margin and Risk Premium Table 3, below, summarises our understanding of the costs associated with each of the components and its typical life (where possible).
