and it is yet too early to draw any conclusions. The
survey show that the bird ß ights predominantly take
place during tail wind, i.e. westerly winds in spring
and easterly winds in the autumn. During the autumn
tail winds are relatively spars and some ß ights will
therefore take place under different wind conditions.
The wind direction also inß uences the choice of
ß ying height. During the spring ß ight the birds will ß y
at a much higher height than at headwind when almost
the entire ß ight takes place at below 100 metres. During
the autumn the ß ight pass is lowered at headwind,
but ß ights take place higher up in headwinds than during
the spring ß ight.
