10. The Zero Alternative<br />
The zero alternative will describe how the situation will develop over time if the project is not<br />
realized (EC chapter 6, §7).<br />
10.1 National energy supply<br />
According to <strong>for</strong>ecasts from STEM, the demand <strong>for</strong><br />
electricity on the Swedish market will continue to rise<br />
at the same pace it has <strong>for</strong> the past ten years. <strong>This</strong> will<br />
lead to that Sweden will continue to be a net importer<br />
of electricity as the current Swedish production capacity<br />
will not be enough.<br />
The pictures below show the import <strong>for</strong> 2003 and<br />
the expected level of import <strong>for</strong> 2007 (Nordel 2004).<br />
The pictures show that the imported electricity primarily<br />
comes from Poland and Germany. The zero alter-<br />

If the wind farm is not built and the electricity instead<br />
is produced from fossil fuels, the following burden will<br />
be put on the environment:
