P-all consultants Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. PESIA Weg naar Zee 2D Seismic 2012 No economic activities are yet visible in the central Wayambo swamp area. This swamp area lays fallow. But the seismic lines in the Dry land area cross farm land and residential areas. Figure 2 Location of the Weg naar Zee prospective area (from Staatsolie map 2007) and 2D seismic lines in blue The Study Area for the 2D seismic lines is located in both the Wayambo swamp area and the dry land area. The study area (see figure 2) is bordered as the Weg naar Zee Block with the difference that the southern border is the Kwattaweg instead of the Commissaris Weytinghweg. The borders are as follows: • in the West by the Vijfde Rijweg, the north-south running Van Dijk fish hole and its northern extension up to the Atlantic Ocean • in the North by the Atlantic Ocean • in the East by the eastern border of the Graanoogst agricultural area (end of the Ocean Project) up to the northern border of the Gummels agricultural area, and from there by a north-east/south-west line connected with the Kwattaweg. • in the South by the Kwattaweg and the Garnizoenspad It should be noted that most impacts will be limited to the surroundings of the access trails and the trails where the lines will be laid and a narrow strip along the access routes. But for a few environmental components, like air quality, noise of explosions and water quality, the impacts may go beyond the boundaries of the project area. 24

PESIA Weg naar Zee 2D Seismic 2012 3.3 SITUATION OF THE 2D SEISMIC LINES WNZ-2D-2011/001 (8.5 km long), runs in East – West direction, south and parallel to the western part of the WNZ-2D-2011/007 line and crosses the Oedraysing Varmaweg south of the Cremation site. The line runs through almost uninhabited area but crosses cultivated private lands and cattle pasture along the Oedraysing Varmaweg. The line also will cross (private) canals and ‘fish holes’ with its associated dams. WNZ-2D-2011/002 (7.5 km long) runs in a South – North direction and is in the far western part of the Weg naar Zee area. The major part of this line runs through uninhabited area but the ultimate southern part passes nearby or crosses private lands where horticulture activities take place WNZ-2D-2011/003 (7.8 km). This line also runs in a South – North direction and lies in the western part of the Weg naar Zee area. The major part of this line also runs through uninhabited area except for the ultimate southern part which passes nearby or crosses private lands with horticulture activities. The southern part of this line lies close to archaeological site 060 WNZ-2D-2011/004 (6.6 km). This line also runs in a South – North direction also in the western part of the Weg naar Zee area. The major part of this line also runs through uninhabited area except for the ultimate southern part which passes nearby or crosses private lands with horticulture activities. The southern part of this line lies close to archaeological site 022 as mentioned in Figure 9. WNZ-2D-2011/005 (6.0 km). This line runs in an East – West direction, crosses the Henri Fernandesweg and the canals at the both sides of this road and runs north and parallel to the inhabited Oedraysing Varma weg and the Brantimakkaweg. The part west of the Henri Fernandesweg runs through developed private owned lands and close to human settlements and their agricultural lands and also close to the Pilgrimage site Weg naar Zee. The eastern part (east of the Henri Fernandesweg) runs through mangrove forest, part of which is dying or already has died. The most eastern part of the line runs through the private owned lands of Mr. Graanoogst and Mr. Gummels where it crosses the WNZ-2D-2011/008 line. WNZ-2D-2011/006 (3.9 km). This line runs in a North-South direction and crosses the inhabited Brantimakaweg, the Ingipipaweg, the Parwaweg and the Kwepieweg along which people have their agricultural and cattle pasture lands. A short part of the line in the ultimate north runs through uninhabited and undeveloped natural area. WNZ-2D-2011/007 (7.1 km.) This line also runs in an East – West direction north and parallel to the WNZ-2D-2011/001 through uninhabited area. The western part of the line crosses the impassable prolongation of the Oedraysing Varmaweg. Because of the occurring ecosystems through which the line runs, it is not likely that this line will cross any agricultural activity, presently or in the near future. WNZ-2D-2011/008 (2.0 km). This line runs in a North - South direction and is in the far eastern part of the Weg naar Zee area. According to Mr. Timmer this line runs predominantly through the cattle pasture lands of Mr. Gummels. WNZ-2D-2011/009 (1.9 km). This line runs in the extension of line WNZ-2D-2011/002 but bends to the east. According to Mr. Timmer the line passes nearby or crosses private lands where horticulture activities take place. 25
