The recorded data is immediately displayed and checked in the field. If the data quality is poor, it is re-shot. After the survey is complete, the shot-holes are closed and the environment is cleaned up. The project will take about 3 months of data acquisition. All the geophysical equipment will be shipped into Paramaribo by the contractor. The contractor will need to establish a base in Paramaribo. Most probably cars, trucks and boats will be used for the field activities. Prior to acquisition startup, the relevant authorities will be allowed to audit equipment, equipment setup and personnel for certification and safety. 3.4.3 DECOMMISSIONING PHASE • Equipment will be dismantled and trails abandoned according to international standards for the oil and gas industry. All necessary activities will be executed to prevent contamination of soil, ground- and surface water. 30

BASE LINE DESCRIPTION 4.1 INTRODUCTION Physical elements that were taken into consideration are: • Climate • Geo(hydro)logy and water quality • Land and soil • Vegetation and flora • Fauna • Ecosystems • Air quality • Noise • Solid Waste management Socio-economic elements that were taken into consideration are • Affected population • Livelihood affected population • Economic activities • Health risks The approach to these elements is presented in the table 3.
