ANACONDA WIRE AND CABLE COMPANY.
is now installing extensive equipment for the
production of paper -insulated, lead -covered
telephone cable. The new facilities are expected
to be in production during the 2nd half of '56.
ARROW ELECTRONICS, INC.. has moved
their Industrial Department to larger quarters
at 526 Jerricho Turnpike, Mineola, L. I., N. Y.
BARRY CONTROLS, INC., Watertown, Mass.,
has arranged to purchase all physical assets
of the U. S. Sheet Metal Products Co., Burbank,
Calif.
CORNING GLASS WORKS, Corning, N. Y.,
has formed an Electronic Components Dept.,
in the Electrical Products Div. to manufacture
and sell fixed glass capacitors, EC film type
resistors, trimmer capacitors and metallized
glass.
EMERSON & CUMING, INC., has added an
additional 15,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing
space to their plant at 669 Washington St..
Canton, Mass.
FAIRCHILD CAMERA & INSTRUMENT
CORP., Syosset, N. Y., has received a contract
for an undisclosed quantity of valve position
indicators and detectors from the Bettis plant,
U. S. Atomic Energy Comm., Pittsburgh, Pa.
GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, Schenectady,
N. Y., is planning long -term financing
through an issue of $300 million of debentures.
The public offering, scheduled for later in the
spring, will rank among the largest debenture
offerings by an industrial company.
GENERAL PRECISION LABORATORY INC.,
Pleasantville, N. Y., has broken ground for a
new Environmental Test Laboratory, which
will contain 23,200 sq. ft. of floor space, and
will house equipment capable of duplicating
the climates and weather conditions found anywhere
on the face of the globe.
KENT MFG. CORP. has opened a new plant
for the manufacturing of fine electrical devices,
in Newton. Mass.
MAGNAVISION ELECTRONICS CORP., Garwood,
N. J., has opened a new plant devoted
exclusively to the manufacture of TV replacement
tubes.
THE NEW LONDON INSTRUMENT CO.,
New London, Conn., change in ownership announcement
previously reported actually took
place more than a year ago. The company advises
that the announcement was primarily
intended to make public the names of the
owners.
OTARION. INC.. Dobbs Ferry, N. Y., has announced
the appointment of Dr. Fred W.
Kranz, one of the nation's leading authorities
on acoustics and hearing, as consultant to the
firm.
THE POLYMER CORP., OF PENNSYL-
VANIA, Reading, Pa., has opened an office
and warehouse at 168 Ninth Ave., N. Y. C.
REEVES INSTRUMENT CORP. has established
a Greater New York area sales office at
215 E. 91st St., New York, N. Y.
SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS, INC.,
New York, N. Y., has embarked upon a multimillion
dollar expansion program in the atomic
power field. The program will extend over
the next five years.
UNITED TECHNICAL LABORATORIES.
INC., Morristown, N. J., has announced that
their KLIPZON line of self- holding prods and
connectors has been taken over jointly by
General Cement Manufacturing Co., Rockford.
Ill.; and Walsco Electronic Corp., Los Angeles.
VISUAL ELECTRONICS CORP., New York,
N. Y., has been appointed national distributors
for complete microwave facilities of Lambda -
Pacific.
MID -WEST
ARMOUR RESEARCH FOUNDATION of Illinois
Institute of Technology, Chicago, Ill., is
leading 19 industrial companies in a cooperative
venture to determine how nuclear research
can be of value in their operations.
BATTELLE INSTITUTE, Columbus, Ohio, has
established a Systems Engineering Division
for research in the development and design of
automatic processing and control r:ystems.
DU MONT ILLINOIS INC., a wholly -owned
Du Mont corporation in Chicago, ill., has been
established to handle sales of Du Mont TV
receivers, hi -fi phonograph units, and radios
in the Chicago area.
GRUEN WATCH COMPANY, Cincinnati,
Ohio, has been awarded four defense contracts
totalling $2,239,000. Largest of these
is with the Convair Division of General
Dynamics Corp. for the design, development,
and pilot production of electro- mechanical
gyro test equipment.
MINNEAPOLIS- HONEYWELL REGULATOR
CO., aeronautical division, will design and
manufacture a reference guidance system to
help guide Project Vanguard towards upper
atmosphere.
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINE
CORP., has installed an IBM 706 Electronic
Data Processing Machine, the first in the
petroleum industry, in the Baton Rouge, La.,
refinery of Esso Standard Oil Company.
THE W. L. MAXSON CORP. has established
a district office at Arlington, Tex. Grant A.
Dove has been named as Rep and will handle
sales activities for the company in the area.
OGDEN COIL & TRANSFORMER COM-
PANY, has moved its facilities to 3323 W.
Cermak Rd., Chicago, Ill. The new quarters
consist of over 50% more floor space than
was previously occupied.
SHURE BROTHERS, INC., has recently moved
into a new building at 222 Hartrey Ave.,
Evanston, Ill. The new plant is situated just
north of the Chicago city limits.
WESTERN UNION TELEGRAPH CO. has
placed an order with Raytheon Manufacturing
Co. for the construction of all of the necessary
terminal and repeater station equipment for
the extension of its multi -channel microwave
facilities from Pittsburgh to Chicago.

THE BENSON -LEHNER CORP., Los Angeles.
Calif., data reduction equipment manufacturer,
has announced the introduction of a complete
service program, available to customers
throughout the world.
FEDERATED METALS DIVISION of American
Smelting and Refining Co. has established
a West Coast core solder manufacturing facility
in San Francisco, Calif.
GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY's Carboloy
Department's Pacific district offices are now
located at 2106 W. Washington Blvd., Los
Angeles, Calif.
LOGISTICS RESEARCH INC.. Redondo
Beach, Calif., has delivered an ALWAC electronic
digital computer to North American
Aviation Inc., marking the third ALWAC delivery
in the first quarter of 1956.
NUCLEAR CORPORATION OF AMERICA,
INC., has acquired Isotope Specialties Co., of
Burbank. Calif.. in exchange for 47,991 shares
of Nuclear's Class A stock. In a similar transaction,
involving the exchange of 22,222
shares of Class A stock. Nuclear has also acquired
the assets and business of Research
Chemicals, Inc., Burbank, Calif.
PACIFIC AUTOMATION PRODUCTS, INC.,
Glendale, Calif., has been awarded a contract
in excess of $2.3 million by General Dynamic's
Convair Division in San Diego. Calif.
RESIN INDUSTRIES, Santa Barbara, Calif.,
has been acquired by the Borden Company.
New York, N. Y. The acquisition includes the
consolidated activities of Resin Industries,
Resinite Sales Corp. and Grant Chemical Corp.,
all of Santa Barbara.
SNYDER ANTENGINEERS, INC.. West
Coast affiliate of Snyder Mfg. Co.. has opened
a large warehouse at 2724 Leonis Blvd.. Los
Angeles, Calif.

CORPORACION NACIONAL DISTRIBUI-
DORA, S. A., Mexico City, Mexico. has received
a manufacturing and sales license for
Du Mont TV receivers and radios for Mexico.
MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO.
LTD., Chelmsford, Essex, England, has been
awarded a contract by the Iraq Posts and
Telegraphs for the building of a complete new
high power broadcasting station near Baghdad.
LEAR, S. A.. Geneva, Switzerland, and Lear
Electronic. GmbH, Reim, Germany. have been
established as operating companies abroad to
support the expanded European operation of
Lear, Inc., Santa Monica, Calif.
RADIO STATION ONDAS del LAGO, Maracaibo.
Venezuela, has purchased TV broadcasting
facilities from RCA. The station will
serve a potential audience of 130.000 with an
effective radiated power of 12 kw.
SORENSEN LTD., Zurich, Switzerland, subsidiary
of Sorensen & Co.. Inc., Stamford,
Conn., has merged with Applied Research and
Development Ltd., also of Zurich.
