is now installing extensive equipment for the<br />

production of paper -insulated, lead -covered<br />

telephone cable. The new facilities are expected<br />

ARROW ELECTRONICS, INC.. has moved<br />

their Industrial Department to larger quarters<br />

has arranged to purchase all physical assets<br />

has formed an Electronic <strong>Com</strong>ponents Dept.,<br />

in the Electrical Products Div. to manufacture<br />

EMERSON & CUMING, INC., has added an<br />

additional 15,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing<br />

FAIRCHILD CAMERA & INSTRUMENT<br />

CORP., Syosset, N. Y., has received a contract<br />

for an undisclosed quantity of valve position<br />

indicators and detectors from the Bettis plant,<br />

GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, Schenectady,<br />

N. Y., is planning long -term financing<br />

through an issue of $300 million of debentures.<br />

The public offering, scheduled for later in the<br />

spring, will rank among the largest debenture<br />

offerings by an industrial company.<br />

GENERAL PRECISION LABORATORY INC.,<br />

Pleasantville, N. Y., has broken ground for a<br />

new Environmental Test Laboratory, which<br />

will contain 23,200 sq. ft. of floor space, and<br />

will house equipment capable of duplicating<br />

the climates and weather conditions found anywhere<br />

on the face of the globe.<br />

KENT MFG. CORP. has opened a new plant<br />

for the manufacturing of fine electrical devices,<br />

in Newton. Mass.<br />

MAGNAVISION ELECTRONICS CORP., Garwood,<br />

N. J., has opened a new plant devoted<br />

exclusively to the manufacture of TV replacement<br />

leading 19 industrial companies in a cooperative<br />

venture to determine how nuclear research<br />

can be of value in their operations.<br />

BATTELLE INSTITUTE, Columbus, Ohio, has<br />

established a Systems Engineering Division<br />

for research in the development and design of<br />

automatic processing and control r:ystems.<br />

DU MONT ILLINOIS INC., a wholly -owned<br />

Du Mont corporation in Chicago, ill., has been<br />

established to handle sales of Du Mont TV<br />

receivers, hi -fi phonograph units, and radios<br />

in the Chicago area.<br />

GRUEN WATCH COMPANY, Cincinnati,<br />

Ohio, has been awarded four defense contracts<br />

totalling $2,239,000. Largest of these<br />

is with the Convair Division of General<br />

Dynamics Corp. for the design, development,<br />

and pilot production of electro- mechanical<br />

gyro test equipment.<br />

MINNEAPOLIS- HONEYWELL REGULATOR<br />

CO., aeronautical division, will design and<br />

manufacture a reference guidance system to<br />

help guide Project Vanguard towards upper<br />

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINE<br />

CORP., has installed an IBM 706 Electronic<br />

Data Processing Machine, the first in the<br />

petroleum industry, in the Baton Rouge, La.,<br />

THE W. L. MAXSON CORP. has established<br />

a district office at Arlington, Tex. Grant A.<br />

Dove has been named as Rep and will handle<br />

WESTERN UNION <strong>TELE</strong>GRAPH CO. has<br />

placed an order with Raytheon Manufacturing<br />

Co. for the construction of all of the necessary<br />

terminal and repeater station equipment for<br />

the extension of its multi -channel microwave<br />

INC., has acquired Isotope Specialties Co., of<br />

Burbank. Calif.. in exchange for 47,991 shares<br />

of Nuclear's Class A stock. In a similar transaction,<br />

involving the exchange of 22,222<br />

shares of Class A stock. Nuclear has also acquired<br />

the assets and business of Research<br />

Chemicals, Inc., Burbank, Calif.<br />

PACIFIC AUTOMATION PRODUCTS, INC.,<br />

Glendale, Calif., has been awarded a contract<br />

in excess of $2.3 million by General Dynamic's<br />
