The Maumee RAP has established positive relationships with local <strong>report</strong>ers and has<br />
received fair and accurate <strong>report</strong>ing regarding Maumee RAP issues, activities and<br />
events. In the early 1990s, The Blade ran a series of feature articles on the Ottawa<br />
River, and since then various RAP and RAP partner activities have been featured in<br />
articles.<br />

Television station CBS Channel 11 produced a one-hour documentary to explain<br />
Ottawa River water quality issues. This documentary highlighted the dumps,<br />
uncontrolled waste sites, contaminated sediments, navigational problems at the<br />
mouth, and problems associated with an accidental <strong>for</strong>maldehyde spill. Channel 11<br />
broadcast this documentary at 7:00 p.m. on a Saturday night, helping to educate the<br />
general public of water quality concerns.<br />

citizens interested in the Maumee RAP. There are more than 1500 people on this list.<br />

Various staff and volunteers of the Maumee RAP have presented program and<br />
project details to many different audiences. From the local garden club or a university<br />
environmental or public policy class, to the directors of state agencies. Maumee RAP<br />
presentations have provided in-depth details on challenges and successes to improve<br />
water quality. While a total number of presentations is not available, an average of 5-<br />
