Description:<br />

Members of the Maumee RAP Dumps and Landfills Action Group spearheaded an<br />

initiative in the Duck and Otter Creeks watersheds to bring together stakeholders in a<br />

voluntarily partnership to investigate and address environmental issues affecting<br />

these watersheds. (see – Duck and Otter Creeks Stakeholders Summit <strong>for</strong> more<br />

details)<br />

The Duck and Otter Creeks <strong>Partners</strong>hip, Inc. is a voluntary non-profit organization<br />

whose members include citizens, local businesses, industries, government agencies,<br />

institutions, and public organizations. Early charter-signing members include Susan<br />

Horvath, Sunoco, Inc., Envirosafe Services of Ohio, Pilkington North America, Inc.,<br />

BP Amoco Oil - Toledo Refinery, TMACOG, City of Toledo, Department of Public<br />

Utilities, Bowser-Morner, Inc., The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc., Natural Areas<br />

Stewardship, Inc., and the City of Oregon. In addition to these members, the<br />

<strong>Partners</strong>hip has a number of other active non-charter signing participants.<br />

The <strong>Partners</strong>hip is dedicated to the mission of better understanding the nature of the<br />

water, sediments, flood plains and adjacent wetlands of Duck and Otter Creeks <strong>for</strong> the<br />

purpose of promoting the protection of human health and biological integrity through<br />

voluntary non-regulatory actions.<br />

Duck and Otter Creeks <strong>Partners</strong>hip Watershed Coordinator (2000 - 2006)<br />

The <strong>Partners</strong>hip hired a full-time Watershed Coordinator through a six-year, $191,000<br />

grant from the Ohio DNR, with matching cash and in-kind commitments totaling over<br />

$151,000 <strong>for</strong> six years. The Watershed Coordinator will assist the <strong>Partners</strong>hip with<br />

watershed planning, organizational development, public outreach, and project<br />

development and implementation. The <strong>Partners</strong>hip has recently undertaken a limited<br />

strategic planning process to identify the key objectives it will focus on <strong>for</strong> the next<br />

several years and the types of activities or projects that could fulfill these objectives.<br />
