Lubrication Types<br />

Use Table 4 on page 136 and the list of lubricants below to<br />

identify the type of lubricant to use on your <strong>Medium</strong> <strong>Duty</strong>. For<br />

a quick summary of each lubrication point, see Table 2 on<br />

page 120.<br />

ATF: DEXRON® III/MERCON®-approved automatic transmission fluid<br />

BB: Ball Bearing grease<br />

CB: Engine oil for mild to moderate requirements<br />

CC/CD: Engine oil for severe requirements (MIL–L–2104B /<br />

MIL–L–45199B w/ 1.85% max sulfated ash content)<br />

CD: Engine oil meeting API “Five engine test sequence”<br />

CD50: SAE 50W synthetic transmission fluid<br />

CE: Engine oil meeting severe duty service requirements for<br />

direct—injection turbocharged engines.<br />

CL: Multipurpose chassis grease<br />

EP: Extreme Pressure lubricant<br />

GL: Straight mineral gear lubricant<br />

HD: Hypoid Gear Oil, A.P.I. — GL–5/SAE 80W–90<br />

HT: High Temperature grease (Timken Specification 0–616)<br />

MP: Multipurpose gear lubricant (MIL–L–2105B)<br />

SD: Engine oils with increased protection against temperature deposits,<br />

rust, wear, and corrosion.<br />

WB: Wheel Bearing grease (Timken Specification 0–610)<br />
