Instruments and Controls<br />

WARNING! To reduce the chance of personal<br />

injury and/or vehicle damage due to engine<br />

overheating, never leave the engine idling without<br />

an alert driver present. If the engine should<br />

overheat, as indicated by the engine coolant<br />

temperature light, immediate action is required<br />

to correct the condition. Continued unattended<br />

operation of the engine, even for a short time,<br />

may result in serious engine damage or a fire.<br />

For further details on engine operation, see the Engine Operation<br />

and Maintenance <strong>Manual</strong> in the glove compartment of<br />

your vehicle.<br />

Engine Oil Pressure Gauge<br />

It is important to maintain oil pressure within acceptable limits.<br />

If oil pressure drops below the minimum psi a Red Warning<br />

Lamp on the oil pressure gauge and the Stop Engine<br />

Warning Lamp will come ON.<br />

CAUTION: Continuing to operate your vehicle<br />

with insufficient oil pressure will cause serious<br />

engine damage.<br />

• If the oil pressure fails to rise within 10 seconds <strong>after</strong> the<br />

engine starts, stop the engine and determine the cause.<br />

• Check the engine manufacturer's manual for the correct<br />

oil pressure ranges for your vehicle's engine.<br />

• If the oil pressure suddenly drops, or the audible alarm<br />

and engine oil pressure warning light come on while driving,<br />

do the following:<br />

1. Slow down carefully.<br />

2. Move a safe distance off the road and stop.<br />
