Synthetic Lubricant: Chevron RPM<br />

Synthetic Gear Lubricant, or equal, meeting<br />

MIL-L-2105D and Eaton PS-037 specification.<br />

-40 to +38 -40 to +100 75W-90<br />

• No initial drain is required on Eaton axles that are factory<br />

filled with an Eaton-approved synthetic lubricant.<br />

• Petroleum-based lubricants must be drained within the<br />

first 5,000 miles (8000 km) if converting to an approved<br />

synthetic lubricant.<br />

See Table 2, “Recommended Maintenance Intervals,” Page<br />

120 for standard rear axle service intervals.<br />

• Use petroleum-based lubricants meeting MIL–L–2105–<br />

C/D grade specifications or approved synthetic lubrication.<br />

Do not use oil additives.<br />

To change axle lubricant:<br />

1. Park the vehicle on level ground with the axle lubricant at<br />

normal operating temperature.<br />

2. Remove filler (1) and drain plug (2).<br />

3. Completely drain the oil and clean the drain plug.<br />

CAUTION: Do not overfill axles.<br />

4. Reinstall the drain plug (2) and refill with recommended<br />

oil up to the bottom of filler plug hole.<br />

5. Reinstall filler plug (1).<br />
