Operating Instructions<br />

Seats<br />

• Belts should fit snugly across the pelvis and chest.<br />

Make sure any slack is wound up on the retractor.<br />

To unfasten the belt:<br />

3. Insert the belt tongue into the buckle on the inboard side<br />

of the seat.<br />

4. Push down until the tongue locks securely (with an audible<br />

click). Pull on the belt to check for proper fastening.<br />

• Pull the shoulder section to make sure the belt fits<br />

snugly across the chest.<br />

• The shoulder belt must be positioned over the shoulder—it<br />

must never rest against the neck.<br />

Push in the release button on the buckle. The belt will spring<br />

out of the buckle.<br />

• To release a locked belt, lean back to take the body pressure<br />

off of the belt.<br />

• To store a lap-shoulder belt, allow the belt to wind up on<br />

the retractor by guiding the belt tongue until the belt<br />

comes to a stop.<br />

Proper Safety Belt Adjustment<br />

Your combination lap-shoulder belt may need adjustment.<br />

Adjust safety belts properly.<br />

• The lap belt should be worn as low and tight on the hips<br />

as possible. Make sure any slack is taken up by the belt<br />

mechanism.<br />

• The shoulder belt should fit snugly across your body. It<br />

should be positioned midway over the shoulder (nearer<br />

to the door); it should never rest against your neck.<br />
