13. She puts her HEAD IN HER HANDS. She doesn’t budge. RYAN (CONT’D) They’re going to put you in a stinking English jail a thousand miles from home. Every time you want to see the kids, or they want to see you, your mother is going to have put them on a ferry and drive for hundreds of miles. You can’t do it to them, Collette. RYAN stands ABRUPTLY and grabs another pile of photographs. He squats again and HOLDS ONE UP. RYAN (CONT’D) Remember him? He pulls apart her hands. Her eyes GLISTEN. No reply. RYAN (CONT’D) Look at it! RYAN (CONT’D) Raymond Quinn. You used to work for him at the print factory... RYAN (CONT’D) You told Paddy he was a part-time soldier and this was the result... He holds up a picture of a BODY LYING AMIDST KIDS TOYS. RYAN (CONT’D) Paddy rang the doorbell and gunned him down. His wife found the kids crawling all over his body, covered in blood. You scouted it, Gerry ordered it, Paddy pulled the trigger... She shakes her head. RYAN (CONT’D) Yes you did! And now you visit his grave every month, without fail. A photograph of her placing flowers in front of a headstone.
14. No answer. RYAN (CONT’D) You want to tell me why? RYAN stands, throws the pictures onto the desk. RYAN (CONT’D) I’ll tell you why. You weren’t made to take an eye for an eye and you’re a fool to have put yourself in this chair. He takes an audio tape, puts it into a machine. RYAN (CONT’D) Your Mother and Gerry whilst you were making out with that piece of shit on the night before you came here... The TAPE Rolls. There is a lot of interference, so that the voices are only barely audible. He stops the tape. Waits. GERRY (O.S.) It’s what she wants. MA (O.S.) (angry) How can she know what she wants...She’s in no fit state to(inaudible)...what about Mark? What about Catherine? She...(inaudible again)... RYAN (quietly) Please think about it, Collette. You deserve better than this. EXT. HOUSE OF COMMONS - CARRIAGE GATE - NIGHT A sallow young man, EDDIE MCILHATTON, watches a woman walk out of the COMMONS precinct. He follows her around the corner and down into WESTMINSTER TUBE STATION. He stands behind her as she takes off a security pass and slips it into her handbag.
