Source code 886. Punches the first -- 642 -- into the engine. It flashes Access Denied: clearance level 8 required. Types in 886. Then a password. We’re looking at COLLETTE’S FILE; CODENAME SHADOW DANCER. He returns to the search engine, tries MCVEIGH. Hundreds of files. He clicks on GERRY MCVEIGH. It flashes up: WARNING. Gerry McVeigh now presents real and present danger to ongoing negotiations. DIRECT SOURCE MATERIAL suggests well advanced plans for imminent spectacular designed to smash peace process. Hits the BACKGROUND button again. Source code 642. He tries to access 642 once more, but it flashes up; Access Denied: clearance level 8 required. RYAN is trying to work it out...
72. EXT. MILLTOWN CEMETERY - DAY A panoramic view of dawn breaking over this iconic graveyard at the heart of republican West Belfast -- the IRA’s heartland. We sweep in to pick out two lonely figures winding through the headstones. COLLETTE and her MOTHER walk arm in arm. MA carries two bunches of flowers and a brand new LIVERPOOL scarf. They stop before a grave. The headstone reads; SEAN MICHAEL MCVEIGH, BELOVED SON, MURDERED BY CROWN FORCES MA places one of the bunches in the vase and slips the Liverpool scarf around the headstone. The two women lean their heads together. They walk, arms still linked, down the line to another grave. DAVEY MCGRAW, BELOVED FRIEND AND FATHER, MURDERED BY CROWN FORCES. COLLETTE has no flowers to lay here. We watch her face. What would it say on her headstone? The woman who betrayed them all... MA notices COLLETTE’s cheeks are damp and brushes the tears tenderly away. EXT. FALLS ROAD - DAY A group of men in black leather jackets, white shirts, black ties and black shoes wait to carry DECLAN WALSHE’s coffin. They’re surrounded by a crowd of mourners outside a terraced house. NEW ANGLE: Cops dressed in riot gear pack the street. NEW ANGLE: GERRY MCVEIGH waits in the crowd, dressed in a green corduroy jacket. NEW ANGLE: A helicopter ‘eye in the sky’ hovers. NEW ANGLE: a shot from its monitor reveals the cops fanning out into dozens of surrounding streets. It looks like a siege. In a sense, it is. NEW ANGLE: The RUC -- the police -- commander taps a wooden baton against his leg. As the coffin is brought out of the house, draped in the Irish flag, he steps forward. He approaches GERRY MCVEIGH. COMMANDER We agreed there’d be none of this. GERRY ignores him, nods for the pallbearers to continue. The officer raises his stick.
