3. She walks again. PUNCH UP; WINCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM, DECEMBER 1993 As COLLETTE approaches the railway station, quick cuts follow her casual glances at: A YOUTH cleaning windows. A MIDDLE-AGED MAN sitting at a bus stop. A YOUNG WOMAN selling flowers. INT. STATION - WINCHESTER - A MINUTE LATER. COLLETTE moves along the platform. Quick cuts again as she checks out: A PRIEST. A group of MOTHERS with their kids. A YOUNG MAN doing a newspaper crossword. He’s concentrating hard. NEW ANGLE: A train SMASHES into frame. CRASH CUT TO: INT. TRAIN. COLLETTE’S P.O.V. as she searches for a seat. DISJOINTED voices and snippets of conversation. KIDS arguing. MOTHERS discussing their day out. COLLETTE glances over her shoulder at crossword guy. CLOSE on a discarded newspaper front page, which shouts TARGET LONDON; EXPECT ‘MORE BOMBS, MORE CHAOS’, CRASH CUT TO: EXT. A TRAIN HURTLING THROUGH THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE - ALMOST AN HOUR LATER. CUT TO: INT. TRAIN. COLLETTE sits with the rucksack on her lap. ON CROSSWORD GUY, two rows back. He’s still concentrating hard. Maybe too hard.
4. COLLETTE moves to the toilet, locks the door, opens her bag. A beat. She reaches into her rucksack and fiddles with something, but we can’t tell what. She looks up. She breathes in deep. Back to her seat. A conductor inspects tickets. COLLETTE sees him exchange a look with crossword guy. Something’s not right. EXT. WATERLOO STATION - MINUTES LATER. COLLETTE’s P.O.V. as she steps onto the platform. Something is not right: The newspaper seller, the two young men by a stairwell... Faster. The ticket collector by the gate is not checking tickets, doesn’t meet her eye... Faster still. A shout behind her. Shocked faces as she ricochets through the crowd and bursts out of the station to... EXT. LONDON STREET - CONTINUOUS. ...where she runs like hell. We hear police sirens, more shouts, whistles. She weaves through the traffic. An oncoming car screeches to a halt -- nearly flattens her -- but she doesn’t break her stride... EXT. NEARBY STREET - CONTINUOUS. DAVID RYAN stands by the open door of an unmarked car. He has a police radio in his hand, only just audible over the wail of sirens. VOICE (ON THE RADIO) She’s going for the bridge... EXT. BANK OF THE THAMES - CONTINUOUS. TIGHT ON COLLETTE as she sprints along the bank of the RIVER. All we can hear is her BREATHING. A helicopter swoops low.
