ACT 143 Spray Equipment<br />

Operation<br />

2 Credits<br />

Participants will inspect, clean and determine<br />

condition of spray guns and related equipment.<br />

This course also includes adjusting, setting<br />

up and testing spray guns.<br />

ACT 144 Refinishing I<br />

2 Credits<br />

The participant will apply automotive paint<br />

systems., including locating color codes, mixing<br />

formulas, matching and selectioning<br />

materials, using and adjusting a paint gun. In<br />

addition, the participant will study masking<br />

and detailing techniques.<br />

ACT 151 Plastics and Adhesives I<br />

1 Credit<br />

This course covers state-of-the-art repair of<br />

both rigid and flexible plastic components<br />

and adhesives using the latest manufacturer’s<br />

repair techniques.<br />

ACT 161 Suspension and Steering<br />

2 Credits<br />

This course teaches inspection, alignment and<br />

adjusting suspension system components.<br />

Included will be inspection, removing, adjustment<br />

and replacing power steering components,<br />

identification of parts and usage.<br />

ACT 162 Heating and Air<br />

Conditioning<br />

2 Credits<br />

This course covers the theory of operation<br />

and defines related terms. It identifies components,<br />

specialty tools and equipment. The student<br />

will be able to recover refrigerant and<br />

evacuate, recharge, and leak-test an automobile<br />

air conditioning system.<br />

ACT 163 Brakes<br />

2 Credits<br />

This course covers inspecting, adjusting,<br />

removing and reinstalling brake drums and/or<br />

drum/hub assemblies and wheel bearings.<br />

Participants will identify and use the proper<br />

procedures for handling brake dust and electronic<br />

equipment for diagnosing.<br />

ACT 164 Fuel, Intake and Exhaust<br />

Systems<br />

1 Credit<br />

This course trains the student with proper<br />

handling of exhaust systems, fuel lines and<br />

fuel EVAP control systems. Proper disposal<br />

of parts will also be covered.<br />

ACT 165 Drive Train<br />

1 Credit<br />

This course covers removal and replacement<br />

of drive train components such as linkages,<br />

electronic connectors and components.<br />

ACT 166 Electrical<br />

2 Credits<br />

This course covers inspection,testing and<br />

replacng electronic components. Participants<br />

will check voltages in wiring circuits, check<br />

operation of all electrical power systems and<br />

demonstrate the proper self-grounding procedures<br />

for handling electrical systems.<br />

ACT 167 Cooling System<br />

2 Credits<br />

This course covers inspection,testing and<br />

replacement of the components of the cooling<br />

system. Participants will check the operation<br />

of the system and relate this learning to the<br />

collision repair process.<br />

ACT 211 Metal Welding and<br />

Cutting II<br />

2 Credits<br />

This course covers procedures of seam welds,<br />

stitch welds and destructive testing, resistance<br />

spot welding, which includes two-sided spot<br />

weld, plasma cutting, safety, materials, equipment<br />

and operating procedures, with emphasis<br />

on shop safety.<br />

ACT 217 Automotive Collision<br />

Technology Laboratory Experiences<br />

1 to 9 Credits<br />

This course expands competencies/skills identified<br />

in ACT-111 and ACT-211. Laboratory<br />

experiences include demonstrations and<br />

hands-on automotive collision technology<br />

experiences both on and off school/college<br />

sites. Laboratory experience credits/hours<br />

may be needed to meet NATEF requirements.<br />

ACT 219 Metal Welding and Cutting<br />

Internship<br />

1 to 9 Credits<br />

Prerequisite: ACT 111<br />

This course meets in a work-based environment.<br />

Laboratory experience credits/hours<br />

may be needed to meet NATEF requirements.<br />

Non-Structural Analysis<br />

and Damage Repair Area<br />

13 Credits<br />

For every task in non-structural analysis and<br />

damage repair, the following safety requirements<br />

must be strictly enforced:<br />

• Comply with personal and environmental<br />

safety practices associated with clothing, respiratory<br />

protection, eye protection, hand tools,<br />

power equipment and proper ventilation<br />

• Handle, store, and dispose of<br />

chemicals/materials in accordance with local,<br />

state, and federal safety and environmental<br />

regulations<br />

ACT 221 Movable Glass and<br />

Hardware<br />

2 Credits<br />

This course covers how to remove and<br />

replace electrical and mechanical door glasses,vent<br />

windows and glass mechanisms.<br />

Interior trim panels, seats and headliners will<br />

be removed and replaced, with instruction in<br />

the proper care and treatment of vehicle seat<br />

protectors. Instruction includes the proper use<br />

of tools required to perform these tasks.<br />

ACT 227 Automotive Collision<br />

This course is related to competencies/skills<br />

identified in the above courses. Laboratory<br />

ACT 231 Advanced Structural<br />

Damage Diagnosis and Repair<br />

3 Credits<br />

This course covers major body repair and the<br />

equipment and techniques used to straighten<br />

and align damaged frames on conventional<br />

and unibody structures. Also included will be<br />

identification and analysis of frames, hot- and<br />

cold-stress relieving, servicing and sectioning<br />
