This course is designed to instruct the student<br />

in understanding general types of health<br />

insurance plans on the market, methods of<br />

payment, common insurance terms, benefits<br />

and limitations of government sponsored and<br />

mandated insurance plans. ICD-9, CPT-4, and<br />

HCPC coding is discussed as well as filing<br />

claims with carriers for reimbursement.<br />

for performing each skill. Includes regulations<br />

regarding bloodborne pathogens, universal<br />

precautions, OSHA, and medical asepsis.<br />

Prerequisite:MOT 102, MOT 105.<br />

This course focuses on the human body and<br />

the consequences of a disruption of body<br />

processes. Anatomy and physiology of body<br />

systems will be reviewed along with testing<br />

and other data associated with documentation<br />

of specific disease processes will be emphasized.<br />

MOT 205 CMA Exam Review<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of Medical Assisting<br />

AAS or certificate program<br />

This course establishes a foundation in outpatient<br />

coding in order to complete a correct<br />

HCFA-1500 form using ICD-9-CM, CPT and<br />

HCPCcodes. The course informs student<br />

what documentation is needed to justify those<br />

codes, the problems of incorrect coding and<br />

how to manage third party requirements and<br />
