This certificate is designed to prepare individuals to gain employment<br />
as a phlebotomist in the health care industry. Students will receive an<br />
extensive and varied program of study that includes theory and practice,<br />
specimen set-up and process, medical terminology specific to the<br />
laboratory, customer service skills, regulatory issues, venipuncture<br />
and fingerstick technique and numerous other collection procedures.<br />
The student gains knowledge in problem solving, legal implications,<br />
and other duties specifically associated with the health care industry,<br />
i.e. home health care, physician offices, hospital, etc. After successful<br />
completion of this course and the phlebotomy internship, the student<br />
is eligible to apply and sit for the national AMT (American Medical<br />
Technologist) certification exam.<br />
