5.1 Introduction<br />
Overview<br />
<strong>XVS</strong> setup can be extended from a LAN environment to a WAN environment by us<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>ternet as<br />
transport medium. Both sides, the <strong>XVS</strong> Operate side and the <strong>XVS</strong> Play side are connected to an Internet<br />
Service Provider (ISP)<br />
When the connection is established, it is preferable to create a VPN tunnel for security reason when transferr<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the <strong>in</strong>formation through the <strong>in</strong>ternet.<br />
Us<strong>in</strong>g a WAN setup with dynamic IP addresses is a low cost solution tak<strong>in</strong>g the advantage of high bandwidths.<br />
The negative side is the performance, delay and throughput which is not guaranteed over the<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternet.<br />
