7. Troubleshoot<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Cause<br />

The problem is related to the texture size limitation video hardware. Current hardware is usually<br />

2048x2048 or 4096x4096. Because of that, images need to be scaled down to fit <strong>in</strong> the maximum size.<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> problem is due to scal<strong>in</strong>g down of a progressive jpeg. A non-progressive jpeg has much better<br />

scal<strong>in</strong>g performances.<br />

Solution<br />

Try one of the follow<strong>in</strong>g solutions:<br />

• Convert the image to a non-progressive jpeg.<br />

• Scale down the image to the maximum supported texture size of the graphics card (4096x4096).<br />

Note<br />

When the player is not configured <strong>in</strong> the segmentation mode, the texture size limitations must be taken<br />

<strong>in</strong> account for all supported graphics formats. When configured <strong>in</strong> segmentation mode, the player will<br />

automatically segment extreme resolutions and fit them automatically with<strong>in</strong> the texture boundaries.<br />

7.4.2 Director Toolset configuration must be done before sett<strong>in</strong>g <strong>XVS</strong> Play onl<strong>in</strong>e<br />

Description<br />

Start Director Toolset while <strong>XVS</strong> Play is runn<strong>in</strong>g. When clos<strong>in</strong>g Director Toolset errors will be generated<br />

<strong>in</strong> the playback (system_0.cfg is unloaded).<br />

Cause<br />

No cause is def<strong>in</strong>ed yet.<br />

Solution<br />

Only start <strong>XVS</strong> Play after configur<strong>in</strong>g the display with Director Toolset and Director Toolset is closed.<br />

7.4.3 Newly imported (large) content file does not play when scheduled<br />

immediately<br />

Description<br />

Import a large video file and schedule this file to play immediately. The file does not play and errors are<br />

seen <strong>in</strong> the playback.<br />

Cause<br />

The file is not yet copied to the playback.<br />

Solution<br />

Follow the recommended operat<strong>in</strong>g procedures. Import<strong>in</strong>g content should be done dur<strong>in</strong>g the event preparation<br />

and not dur<strong>in</strong>g the event itself.<br />

7.4.4 Playback generates many font errors<br />

Description<br />

The error log is unusually large.<br />

Many errors reported about not be<strong>in</strong>g able to display certa<strong>in</strong> characters with the chosen font.<br />

Cause<br />

The font which is used, does not support some or all of the characters which must be displayed.<br />
