7. Troubleshooting
Cause
The problem is related to the texture size limitation video hardware. Current hardware is usually
2048x2048 or 4096x4096. Because of that, images need to be scaled down to fit in the maximum size.
The main problem is due to scaling down of a progressive jpeg. A non-progressive jpeg has much better
scaling performances.
Solution
Try one of the following solutions:
• Convert the image to a non-progressive jpeg.
• Scale down the image to the maximum supported texture size of the graphics card (4096x4096).
Note
When the player is not configured in the segmentation mode, the texture size limitations must be taken
in account for all supported graphics formats. When configured in segmentation mode, the player will
automatically segment extreme resolutions and fit them automatically within the texture boundaries.
7.4.2 Director Toolset configuration must be done before setting XVS Play online
Description
Start Director Toolset while XVS Play is running. When closing Director Toolset errors will be generated
in the playback (system_0.cfg is unloaded).
Cause
No cause is defined yet.
Solution
Only start XVS Play after configuring the display with Director Toolset and Director Toolset is closed.
7.4.3 Newly imported (large) content file does not play when scheduled
immediately
Description
Import a large video file and schedule this file to play immediately. The file does not play and errors are
seen in the playback.
Cause
The file is not yet copied to the playback.
Solution
Follow the recommended operating procedures. Importing content should be done during the event preparation
and not during the event itself.
7.4.4 Playback generates many font errors
Description
The error log is unusually large.
Many errors reported about not being able to display certain characters with the chosen font.
Cause
The font which is used, does not support some or all of the characters which must be displayed.
