7. Troubleshooting Cause The problem is related to the texture size limitation video hardware. Current hardware is usually 2048x2048 or 4096x4096. Because of that, images need to be scaled down to fit in the maximum size. The main problem is due to scaling down of a progressive jpeg. A non-progressive jpeg has much better scaling performances. Solution Try one of the following solutions: • Convert the image to a non-progressive jpeg. • Scale down the image to the maximum supported texture size of the graphics card (4096x4096). Note When the player is not configured in the segmentation mode, the texture size limitations must be taken in account for all supported graphics formats. When configured in segmentation mode, the player will automatically segment extreme resolutions and fit them automatically within the texture boundaries. 7.4.2 Director Toolset configuration must be done before setting XVS Play online Description Start Director Toolset while XVS Play is running. When closing Director Toolset errors will be generated in the playback (system_0.cfg is unloaded). Cause No cause is defined yet. Solution Only start XVS Play after configuring the display with Director Toolset and Director Toolset is closed. 7.4.3 Newly imported (large) content file does not play when scheduled immediately Description Import a large video file and schedule this file to play immediately. The file does not play and errors are seen in the playback. Cause The file is not yet copied to the playback. Solution Follow the recommended operating procedures. Importing content should be done during the event preparation and not during the event itself. 7.4.4 Playback generates many font errors Description The error log is unusually large. Many errors reported about not being able to display certain characters with the chosen font. Cause The font which is used, does not support some or all of the characters which must be displayed. 86 R5976955 XVS - 2 14/03/2007
7. Troubleshooting Solution Use only a font that contains all characters that should be displayed. For Chinese texts, use one of the these fonts: SimSun, SimHei and PMingLiu. 7.4.5 Scrolling text is not smooth Description Scrolling text is not scrolling smoothly when played on the LED wall. Cause There is no dual processor available and hyperthreading is not enabled and the LED wall is not configured full screen. Solution Use hardware with dual processor and enable the hyperthreading. Configure the LED wall full screen. 7.4.6 The procedure entry point FreeAddrInfoW could not be located in the DLL WS2_32.dll Solution Install Window XP Service Pack 2 7.4.7 RS232 combiner Description Standby Playback does not communicate with the D320. Causes • RS232 Combiner not properly installed. • Driver is configured with wrong Serial flow control. Solution • Follow the instructions for RS232 Combiner installation found in xxx. • Edit the Config_0 file. the flowctrl attribute under Communication → Serial should read “DTRDSR”. 7.4.8 Both DVI outputs on different resolution Description When having both DVI outputs from the graphics card connected to the D320 you may have the error where one of the outputs plays out in a different resolution as the other one.
