Delet<strong>in</strong>g an <strong>audio</strong> <strong>file</strong><br />
You can delete an unnecessary <strong>audio</strong> <strong>file</strong>.<br />
Before carry<strong>in</strong>g out <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g, select an <strong>audio</strong> <strong>file</strong> you want to delete as <strong>the</strong> current <strong>file</strong>.<br />
1. While stopped, press <strong>the</strong> [SHIFT] key to turn on <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dicator.<br />
2. Press <strong>the</strong> [SETUP] key.<br />
The unit enters <strong>the</strong> Utility <strong>mode</strong>.<br />
The first time <strong>the</strong> unit enters <strong>the</strong> <strong>mode</strong> after turn<strong>in</strong>g on <strong>the</strong> power, <strong>the</strong> "Rec Protect?" menu appears.<br />

3. Use <strong>the</strong> jog dial to select <strong>the</strong> "Delete File?" menu and press <strong>the</strong> [ENTER/YES] key.<br />
"Sure?" flashes to confirm delet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> current <strong>file</strong>.<br />
To cancel delet<strong>in</strong>g, press <strong>the</strong> [EXIT/NO] key while "Sure?" flash<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

4. Press <strong>the</strong> [ENTER/YES] key.<br />
The <strong>audio</strong> <strong>file</strong> is deleted. The display shows "Completed!" momentarily, followed by <strong>the</strong> ABS 0 po<strong>in</strong>t (<strong>the</strong><br />
beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g) of <strong>the</strong> next <strong>audio</strong> <strong>file</strong>.<br />
Tips: About a <strong>file</strong> selected after delet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> current <strong>file</strong><br />
When delet<strong>in</strong>g a <strong>file</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> "bwff" or "sd2f" directory, <strong>the</strong> <strong>file</strong> numbers of <strong>file</strong>s follow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> deleted <strong>file</strong><br />
move up.<br />
For example, if you delete "BBBBBBB.wav(02)" <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> "bwff" directory which currently has five <strong>audio</strong><br />
<strong>file</strong>s (01 through 05), <strong>the</strong> <strong>file</strong> numbers 03 through 05 move up to 02 through 04.<br />
If you delete all <strong>file</strong>s <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> directory ("bwff" or "sd2f"), "No Audio File!" is shown.<br />

Tips: Restor<strong>in</strong>g a deleted <strong>file</strong><br />
You cannot undo <strong>the</strong> delete operation, however, you can restore a deleted <strong>file</strong>. See "Restor<strong>in</strong>g a deleted<br />
<strong>file</strong>" on <strong>the</strong> next page.<br />
Tips:<br />
If you delete all <strong>the</strong> (two) "Tape <strong>mode</strong>" <strong>audio</strong> <strong>file</strong>s on a disk formatted <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tape <strong>mode</strong> and <strong>the</strong>n<br />
optimize <strong>the</strong> disk, <strong>the</strong> disk becomes equivalent to <strong>the</strong> one formatted <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> "Normal" <strong>mode</strong>.<br />
