in the cwnd dynamic for the 70% <strong>and</strong> 90% AF b<strong>and</strong>width allocations as<br />

the probability of dubious events that cause moderate_cwnd() function calls<br />

with is higher due to the increased b<strong>and</strong>width delay product with larger<br />

AF allocations. The absence of congestion moderation appears to be more<br />

beneficial for the 700Mbit/sec AF b<strong>and</strong>width allocation, whereas the problem<br />

is only partially solved for a 900Mbit/sec AF allocation.<br />

Figure 9.24 shows the cwnd dynamics of ScalableTCP with <strong>and</strong> without<br />

congestion moderation at 70% <strong>and</strong> 90% AF b<strong>and</strong>width allocation. Similar to<br />

the results observed for HSTCP, the improvement gained without congestion<br />

moderation under 70% AF allocation is dramatic based on reduction of the<br />

large decreases in cwnd after congestion detection.<br />
