USAID, , GEF and LakeNet project: Toward a Lake Bas<strong>in</strong> Management Initiative: Shar<strong>in</strong>g Experiences and Early<br />

Lessons <strong>in</strong> GEF and Non-GEF Lake Bas<strong>in</strong> Management Projects<br />

The project has focused on practical lessons learned from lake bas<strong>in</strong> management efforts around the world,<br />

created new knowledge, filled an important gap <strong>in</strong> lake management experiences on tropical lakes, sal<strong>in</strong>e<br />

lakes, and lakes <strong>in</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g countries, and derives lake management lessons from <strong>in</strong>ternationally funded<br />

projects, pr<strong>in</strong>cipally GEF-f<strong>in</strong>anced lake bas<strong>in</strong> projects, as well as lake projects f<strong>in</strong>anced by the WB and other<br />

agencies and governments.<br />
