and vice versa.<br />
3. If a student is involved with or formally contacted by the Judicial Committee<br />
concerning a judicial process or proceeding (i.e. accused, witness, juror, student<br />
advocate) she is bound to confidentiality concerning any process or procedure.<br />
B. Academic Conduct Violations. Actions or offenses that constitute violations<br />
of the Honor Principle related to Academic Conduct include, but are not limited<br />
to:<br />
1. Intentional or accidental plagiarism (see also pp.86-87) in a formal academic<br />
exercise, including but not limited to:<br />
a. Direct or literal copying of a source without proper attribution;<br />
b. Paraphrasing or constructing a “mosaic” of a source without proper<br />
attribution;<br />
c. Use of an author’s “apt phrase” without proper attribution;<br />
d. Resubmission of one’s own work in another academic exercise without the<br />
knowledge of both instructors;<br />
e. Submission of another’s work in whole or part with intent to deceive.<br />
2. Giving or receiving unacknowledged or unauthorized aid in a formal academic<br />
exercise; or intentionally violating the terms or rules of an academic exercise.<br />
3. Intentional falsification of data or sources in a formal academic exercise.<br />
4. Deceiving or lying to a <strong>College</strong> faculty or staff member or Administrator<br />
concerning the compliance with the terms, conditions or requirements of an<br />
academic exercise; or to gain release from an academic requirement, rule or<br />
exercise.<br />
5. Deceiving or lying to a member of the Judicial Committee in the investigation<br />
or adjudication of an Academic issue before the Judicial Committee.<br />
6. Failure to take “constructive action” after potentially committing, or having<br />
direct knowledge of a potential commission of a violation of the Honor<br />
Principle. “Constructive action” constitutes reporting the potential violation<br />
within 72 hours to a member or chair of the Judicial Committee.<br />
7. Failure to perform or comply with terms of Academic sanctions.<br />
8. Blatant disregard of the fundamental rights of a Faculty member; including, but<br />
not limited to:<br />
a. Verbal or physical assault;<br />
b. Persistent extreme tardiness;<br />
c. Any other action that results in an egregious disruption to the learning<br />
environment for other members of the class.<br />
9. The intentional, or unintentional, abuse of technology in an academic setting;<br />
including, but not limited to:<br />
a. Unauthorized use of a smart-phone, personal digital assistant, media<br />
player, or other similar device;<br />
b. Use of a computer to engage in activities not directly related to classroom<br />
discussion or instruction;<br />
c. Any unwarranted use of other handheld devices not previously mentioned.<br />
