the Judicial Process.<br />

d. The Hearing will include the Academic Judicial Chairwoman, the Dean of<br />

the Faculty, a Judicial Secretary, the Faculty member involved, and the<br />

student in question<br />

e. The Hearing is not a Trial. No witnesses are called and the process is not<br />

adversarial. Rather, it is an opportunity for the situation to be discussed<br />

and an understanding reached.<br />

f. The student in question has the right to be supported at the Hearing by an<br />

Advocate.<br />

g. A record of the Hearing will be kept, and will be admissible if the matter<br />

is referred to a Trial.<br />

h. A Hearing may be conclude with any of the following: acknowledgement<br />

by the accused student of the violation and acceptance of sanctions, a<br />

determination by the Hearing panel that a violation occurred that is<br />

rejected by the accused student, or a determination by the Hearing panel<br />

that no violation took place.<br />

i. In the event that the Hearing panel determines that no violation occurred,<br />

the result will be communicated to the accused student, no further<br />

proceedings will occur, and the matter will be considered ended.<br />

2. Additional Hearing<br />

a. Prior to a Trial, the Academic Judicial Chairwoman and the<br />

Administrative Representative may call another Hearing if it would<br />

potentially resolve the issue.<br />

3. Appeal Process<br />

a. A student who has been found responsible may appeal the results from a<br />

Hearing by requesting a Trial.<br />

b. An appeal must be made in writing to the Judicial Chair within 24 hours of<br />

receiving the Outcome Letter.<br />

c. Upon receiving an appeal from a Hearing, the case will proceed directly to<br />

Trial.<br />

E. Academic Conduct Sanctions<br />

1. The following sanctions may be imposed upon any student found to have<br />

violated the Honor Code Standards of Conduct:<br />

a. Official Warning: An oral or written reprimand that does not become a<br />

part of the student’s record.<br />

b. Loss of Privileges: Denial of specified privileges for a designated period<br />

of time.<br />

c. Compensatory Service: Assignment to an appropriate work requirement<br />

related to the offense. A minimum number of hours would need to be<br />

completed within a specified period of time.<br />

d. Referral: Referral to support services and/or educational programs.<br />
