SPECIAL <strong>REGULATIONS</strong><br />

3. The type of lighting proposed,(Fluorescent and HID high intensity<br />

discharge, metal halide, high-pressure sodium)<br />

4. The style and the location of the proposed light fixtures, with the preferred<br />

location of the fixtures being on and towards the top of the sign,<br />

5. The intensity of the proposed lighting,<br />

6. The potential impact of the proposed light on pedestrian and vehicular<br />

traffic,<br />

7. The proximity of the sign to other lighted areas and the amount of<br />

ambient light within the general area of the sign,<br />

8. The proximity of the sign to other illuminated signs and the consistency of<br />

the proposed illumination with other area signs.<br />

The proposed illumination must be confined to or directed to the surface of the<br />

sign. With external illumination, the source of light shall be so located and<br />

directed that glare from the light source is not visible to pedestrian or vehicular<br />

traffic. Naked or unshaded incandescent or fluorescent light are not be<br />

permitted.<br />

Internally lighted signs are prohibited in all residential zones.<br />

Internally lighted signs may be permitted within commercial zones, with<br />

maximum size of 75% of the maximum sign size outlined within Section 8.6 for<br />

the particular sign type. For example a directory sign (maximum size of 30<br />

square feet) is limited to 22.5 square feet if it is internally illuminated.<br />

8.6.15 PERMIT REQUIREMENTS<br />

8.6.15.1 No sign governed by the provisions of this Regulation shall be erected, altered<br />

or located by any person, firm or corporation from and after the date of<br />

adoption of the Amendment without the necessary permits, if required, issued<br />

by the Commission and/or the Town of Granby Zoning Enforcement Officer.<br />

8.6.15.2 An application for a sign permit shall be made by the owner or tenant of the<br />

property on which the sign is to be located or his authorized agent. The<br />

application for a sign permit will be accompanied by the following:<br />

8.6.15.2.1 The name, address and telephone number of the owner or person entitled to<br />

possession of the sign and the sign contractor or erector.<br />

8.6.15.2.2 The location by street address of the proposed sign.<br />
