SPECIAL <strong>REGULATIONS</strong><br />

8.21.7.1.2 The use is expanded with the building of an additional structure in excess of<br />

1,000 square feet.<br />

8.21.7.1.3 The new agricultural use will involve the application of pesticides, herbicides or<br />

fertilizers upon any new land area where they were not previously applied.<br />

8.21.7.2 Following documentation that a Farm Resources Management Plan has been<br />

approved by the Department of Environmental Protection and/or the Hartford<br />

County<br />

Soil and Water Conservation District and implemented for the agricultural<br />

operation, the Commission shall waive the requirement for a Special Permit.<br />

8.21.8 Monitoring<br />

If it is determined that additional safety measures and monitoring are needed<br />

for any use within the Aquifer Protection Zone, a monitoring program may be<br />

required which may consist of:<br />

8.21.9 Prohibited Uses<br />

• Installation of monitoring wells<br />

• Periodic sampling<br />

• Reporting of analysis<br />

• Other measures as required by the Commission<br />

The following uses and activities shall be prohibited from the aquifer protection<br />

overlay zone due to the considerable risk that these uses and activities pose to<br />

the aquifer.<br />

8.21.9.1 The septic system discharge of any non-domestic waste, which shall include<br />

non-biodegradable waste or persistent organics and inorganics.<br />

8.21.9.2 The on-site disposal or burial of garbage, rubbish, bulky waste or other junk or<br />

unwanted materials, excluding, composting, recycling or the temporary<br />

placement of unwanted materials destined for reuse or permanent disposal at<br />

an alternate site.<br />

8.21.9.3 Municipal and state maintenance garages.<br />

8.21.9.4 On site dry cleaners.<br />

8.21.9.5 Automotive service stations or similar use which involves truck, boat or<br />

automobile engine or body repairs, excepting existing businesses which may<br />

be expanded or upgraded following the issuance of a Special permit.<br />
