1.5 Goals and Objectives of Asset Management
The CoB exists to provide services to its community. This includes the provision of coastal
and foreshore infrastructure assets. CoB has acquired coastal facilities assets primarily
through its own construction activities, funded either through ratepayer moneys, developer
contributions or government grants.
CoB’s goal in managing infrastructure assets is to meet the required level of service in the
most cost effective manner for present and future consumers. The key elements of
infrastructure asset management are:
Taking a whole of life cycle approach,
Developing cost-effective management strategies for the long term,
Providing a defined level of service based on the hierarchy classification of the asset
and monitoring performance,
Understanding and meeting the demands of growth through demand management
and infrastructure investment,
Managing risks associated with asset failures,
Compliance with State and Federal regulations and Australian Standards,
Sustainable use of physical resources,
Continuous improvement in asset management practices.
This CFFAMEP is prepared under the direction of CoB’s vision, mission, goals and
objectives.
