COUNCIL 24/04/2013 ITEM 12.1 ATTACHMENT A COASTAL AND FORESHORE FACILITIES ASSET MANAGEMENT AND EXPANSION PLAN 4.1 Wonnerup Precinct The Wonnerup Coastal Precinct is located approximately 10 kilometres east of Busselton CBD. The precinct area is located between the City of Busselton and Shire of Capel boundary and extends for approximately 7.5 kilometres to the Port Geographe Marina Eastern groyne. Wonnerup Precinct is characterised by large rural lots and conservation and recreation reserves, resulting in low density occupation in most of this area. The western corner of this precinct has a higher density occupation in the residential area located between Layman Road and the estuary. The generally low density occupation in this area results in few recreational coastal nodes installed in the precinct, with only 4 nodes identified. Besides the local residents, the Wonnerup coastal nodes are utilised by the residents of other areas looking for isolated beaches, boat access and four wheel drive vehicles beach access. Residents from the areas south of the Busselton Bypass also use the Wonnerup coast due to the proximity and easy access. It is worth noting that due to the location the western Wonnerup residents have easy access to the carparks and coastal facilities located in the Port Geographe Marina development. 4.1.1 Wonnerup Coastal Recreational Nodes The easternmost Coastal Recreational Node is located off Layman Road, on the western side of the bridge. East Wonnerup recreational node consists of two sealed carparks with access to Wonnerup Beach. Figure 4 Wonnerup Eastern Carpark off Layman Rd Lesueur Reserve recreational node consists of an unsealed carpark and a toilet block located off Layman Road on the opposite side of the floodgate. WundaBuri Reserve recreational node consists of an unsealed carpark adjacent to the 4 wheel drive vehicle access to Wonnerup Beach. Due to the proximity the users can easily access the Lesueur Reserve toilet block. Figure 5 Wundaburi Reserve (Wonnerup Boat Ramp) Carpark Captain Baudin Reserve is located off Layman Road on the western side of Wonnerup Beach, in close proximity to the residential area and Port Geographe Marina. Carpark area, picnic tables and beach access are provided on the northern side of Layman Road, and the Inlet lookout is located on the southern side.
