Pano Controller for Cloud
This chapter explains the installation of Pano System for Cloud. Like other Pano Logic products,
Pano System for Cloud provides a desktop to users via the Pano Zero Client or Pano Virtual Client.
But rather than distributing PCs or laptops all over, each user’s desktop runs on centralized
hardware, typically located in your data center.
The key difference between Pano System for Cloud and Pano System 6.0 is that Pano System for
Cloud uses Google’s Chrome operating system instead of Microsoft’s Windows operating system.
The system as a whole is designed to leverage the power of Chrome, web applications or services
such as Google Docs and Gmail, and the growing trend to move IT technology away from clientserver
architectures and into the cloud.

System Requirements
To deploy a Pano System for Cloud, you’ll need, at a minimum:
• Pano Zero Clients, either G1 or G2. Pano System for Cloud also supports Fujitsu zero client LCD
monitors, such as the DZ19-2 or DZ22-2.
• Server hardware on which to run the Pano Controller for Cloud software. Refer to Server
Requirements for Installation.
• A network infrastructure that includes a DHCP server, DNS, and adequate access to the
Internet. You will need administrative access to the network.
• If you wish to use Pano Virtual Client to re-purpose PCs as Chrome workstations, you will need
a relatively new PC running the current, fully-patched version of Windows XP or Windows 7.
Windows Vista is not supported. (Note: the initial release of Pano System for Cloud does not
support mixing Pano Virtual Clients for VDI and for Chrome on the same network subnet.)
Trial versus Permanent Installation
If you wish, you can run Pano Controller for Cloud from a USB flash drive or CD/DVD. Called
Uninstalled mode, this allows you to quickly try out the software without making any changes to
the hosting server or PC by booting the Pano Controller for Cloud directly from you Flash drive or
CD/DVD. When running uninstalled, you have the following limitations:
• You are limited to five concurrent Pano cloud desktops.
• No license key is required and license restrictions are not enforced.
• The Manage Licenses button (under License Configuration) is disabled.
• No hard drives are required in the server.
• Any settings you make in the Pano Controller for Cloud console will be lost when the server is
rebooted, or if power fails, etc.
