Work on the application kernels was focused on planning for the implementation of an initial
deployment of kernels on Future Grid and subsequently one or two sites on TG/XD to be
synchronized with the release of XDMoD 1.0. Present work has been centered on the best
scheme to track different versions of each kernel and to account for changes in how each kernel
runs on the various resources when a variety of changes are made including both hardware and
software modifications.
Planning for the implementation and development of an initial set of kernels on Future Grid was
done in collaboration with Professor von Lazewski. FutureGrid will provide a useful test-bed for
development of the application kernels. While this deployment will not offer a larger scale for
application processing over the current set of local computing resources, it will test our
development and implementation methods. An xdtas account has been obtained for FutureGrid
and a preliminary plan has been determined to run a set of application kernels on the system.

CCR on 12/14/10 to 12/15/10 for a series of meetings and conferences to discuss XDMoD,
Application Kernels, and FutureGrid TAS collaboration.
