Work on the application kernels was focused on planning for the implementation of an initial<br />

deployment of kernels on Future Grid and subsequently one or two sites on TG/XD to be<br />

synchronized with the release of XDMoD 1.0. Present work has been centered on the best<br />

scheme to track different versions of each kernel and to account for changes in how each kernel<br />

runs on the various resources when a variety of changes are made including both hardware and<br />

software modifications.<br />

Planning for the implementation and development of an initial set of kernels on Future Grid was<br />

done in collaboration with Professor von Lazewski. FutureGrid will provide a useful test-bed for<br />

development of the application kernels. While this deployment will not offer a larger scale for<br />

application processing over the current set of local computing resources, it will test our<br />

development and implementation methods. An xdtas account has been obtained for FutureGrid<br />

and a preliminary plan has been determined to run a set of application kernels on the system.<br />

Custom <strong>Report</strong> Builder/University of Indiana Subcontract:<br />

Professor Gregor von Lazewski (Co-PI) and Dr. Lizhe Wang from Indiana University visited<br />

CCR on 12/14/10 to 12/15/10 for a series of meetings and conferences to discuss XDMoD,<br />

Application Kernels, and FutureGrid TAS collaboration.<br />
