(Chair, Computer Science at Utah), Dr. Craig Stewart (Executive Director, Pervasive Technology
Institute, Indiana), Dr. Richard Brower (Lattice QCD, Boston University), Dr. Sara Graves
(Director, Information Technology and Systems Center, Univ of Alabama, Huntsville), CCR
staff: Dr. Thomas Furlani (PI), Dr. Matthew D. Jones (Co-PI), Mr. Steven Gallo, Mr. Ryan
Gentner, Mr. Amin Ghadersohi, Dr. Charng-Da Lu, and Dr. Robert L. DeLeon and
subcontractors: Dr. Ann Zimmerman from the University of Michigan and Professor Gregor von
Lazewski (Co-PI) from Indiana University. Also attending John Towns (TIS PI), Kevin
Thompson (NSF), and Dr. Richard Moore (SDSC).
After brief introductory comments by Chairman Abani Patra, Dr. Furlani, Dr. Jones, Mr. Gallo
and Dr. Zimmerman provided a briefing on TAS progress to date and a demonstration of the
XDMoD Portal. A very lively and informative discussion followed and a series of comments and
recommendations were noted that will provide helpful guidance for the TAS program. A detailed
summary of the recommendations of the committee were compiled into a report. The first TAS
TAC report from this meeting is attached as Appendix 2.
9.4.3 Coordination with other TG/XD and External Projects
On Tuesday Nov. 16, at SC10, TAS members meet with TACC technical staff to discuss
XDMoD and TG portal development efforts and explore the use of common portal technologies.
During his visit to CCR, on 12/15/10, Professor Gregor von Lazewski from Indiana University
discussed TAS collaboration with FutureGrid.
9.4.4 TAS Appendices
9.4.4.1 Appendix 1: Proposed Role based Data Access Privileges for TAS
We have identified five specific roles for the XDMoD TAS interface. The purpose of this
document is to formalize the information that will be made available through XDMoD for each of
the roles.
1. Public Role (TG account not necessary but an approved XDMoD account is required)
• Overall TG Utilization broken down by resource provider, field of science, time, etc
o No user specific data
• Performance data across RP’s – performance of the TAS application kernel suite
• User Like Me (a tool to assist users in identifying the resource most appropriate for their
computational needs)
2. User Role - extends Public role and adds the following data (requires an active TG account)
