ORNL<br />

A case study of the NSTG RP at ORNL was presented to the international NOBUGS 2010<br />

workshops in October in Gatlinburg. (http://www.nobugsconference.<strong>org</strong>/Conferences) This three<br />

day workshop had over 50 attendees form three four different continents. The NSTG case study<br />

was the capstone presentation officially ending the conference presentations.<br />

Purdue<br />

Purdue’s Kay Hunt, the TeraGrid Campus Champion Program lead, gave a number of<br />

presentations including at Oklahoma Supercomputing Symposium, EPSCoR Cyberinfrastructure<br />

meeting in Washington, DC, EDUCAUSE in Anaheim, CA, Internet2 in Atlanta, GA, IEEE<br />

CloudCom in Indianapolis, IN, and CI Days events at Univ. of Michigan, University of<br />

Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Purdue. She planned and led campus champion BOFs at SC10 and<br />

Internet2 meeting.<br />

Purdue RP provided accounts on Steele and assisted with the training in Puerto Rico, in<br />

December 2010.<br />

10.5 RP Operations: Training<br />

Jim Marsteller held the annual “Security 4 Lunch” on 08-Nov-2010 for all PSC staff and students.<br />

The one hour presentation covered general information on security best practices including<br />

material for PSC staff traveling to SC10. This year the staff was very interactive, asking a number<br />

of security related questions. In fact, the VPN demo ran over the one hour allotted time.<br />

SDSC<br />

RP-funded training activities included hands-on workshops, training sessions via the Access Grid,<br />

support of online and in-person tutorials. TeraGrid RP staff participated in both local site-specific<br />

training as well as TG-wide training.<br />

TACC<br />

TACC and Cornell HPC staff members taught 6 workshops within the reporting period. Staff<br />

members provided 36.5 hours of instruction to a total of 71 students.<br />

VIRTUAL WORKSHOP<br />

Staff members at the Center for Advanced Computing at Cornell University continue to maintain,<br />

support, and develop new modules for the Ranger Virtual Workshop. Available through both the<br />

TeraGrid User Portal and the TACC User Portal, the workshop provides users access to seventeen<br />

training modules with seven new modules currently under development and three modules<br />

scheduled for updates.<br />
