PI: Ferrante (U Washington, Fluids, Particulate and Hydraulic Systems). DNS of Spatially
Developing Turbulent Boundary Layers. Continuing through 03/11. The ASTA team for this
project consists of Darren Adams (NCSA), David Bock (NCSA), John Peterson (TACC), Lonnie
Crosby (NICS) and Dmitry Pekurovsky (SDSC).
In this quarter David Bock has been integrating a new data reader, based on the the new HDF5
library module created by Darren Adams for this PI, into visualization rendering system. Jay
Alameda (PI of NSF SI2 funded project on Eclipse) has identified ways of using the Eclipse
parallel tool to benefit some of the issues the ASTA PI is interested in. A staff (Al Rossi from
NCSA), funded from the SI2 grant, is participating in this project jointly with Adams in this
regard.
PI: Buehler (MIT, Mechanics and Materials). Multiscale Analysis of Size Dependence of
Deformation and Fracture of Hierarchy Protein Materials. Completed 12/10. The project is lead
by Ross Walker (SDSC). There is no update for this quarter and the ASTA was completed.
PI: Jordan (University of Southern California, Earth Sciences). SCEC PetaScale Research: An
Earthquake System Science Approach to Physics-based Seismic Hazard Research. Continuing
through 06/11. The ASTA team consists of Yifeng Cui (SDSC), John Urbanic (PSC), Byoung-Do
Kim (TACC), Kwai Wong (NICS), Mark Vanmoer (NCSA), and Amit Chourasia (SDSC).
