11. PROPOSALS FOR KEY SITES - SOUTH END<br />
This section of the <strong>Report</strong> explains key sites in the south end of the Town Centre, for which specific<br />
and relatively detailed designs were developed during the <strong>Charrette</strong>. They are presented together, as<br />
they and their benefits are inter-dependent.<br />
Key Sites in the South End<br />
11.1 Beverly Lane Supermarket and Live/Work Development<br />
As explained in Section 7.8.1, if a new supermarket is to come to <strong>Katoomba</strong>, it should located and<br />
designed to strengthen the Town Centre, not weaken it. This is one of the two appropriate sites<br />
identified in the <strong>Charrette</strong>; it is understood that the development of this supermarket will be a market<br />
decision, and not subsidised.<br />
The Beverly Lane site is located at the south end of <strong>Katoomba</strong> Street in the Town Centre convenience<br />
retailing area on the east side. For this site to work, several parcels would need to be assembled or<br />
