The <strong>Charrette</strong> Team determined that re-construction could address the usually small grade<br />
change problems to accommodate an enlarged and shared parking area (see plan below),<br />
whose cumulative efficiency is meant to justify the construction costs and special management<br />
required including labelling dedicated spots (these would be minimised). This parking area is<br />
meant to improve somewhat the car parking capacity for the Top of Town.<br />

Action 8.8.6 - Promote as many integrated parking areas as possible to the rear of existing<br />
buildings between <strong>Katoomba</strong> Street and Lurline Street. Access to these shared private and<br />
public parking areas should be rationalised.<br />
8.8.7 Goldsmith Place Parking<br />
The Goldsmith Hardware site is one of several opportunities to gain both on-street and<br />
potentially on-site car parking capacity for the Top of Town and for commuter parking for the<br />
train. As shown on the plan in Section 9.2, there is width in Goldsmith Place (the street in front<br />
of Goldsmiths) for head-in parking on the railway side; this arrangement would increase the<br />
on-street parking capacity.<br />
The Goldsmith site itself is large enough to accommodate considerable parking capacity, not<br />
only on-grade, but as a reasonably efficient multi-deck. Of course, if this parking were for<br />
