<strong>Vegetation</strong> <strong>Classification</strong> <strong>and</strong> Distribution <strong>Mapping</strong> <strong>Report</strong>: Petrified Forest National Park<br />

Petrified Forest National Park. Only one relevé was classified as Allenrolfea occidentalis<br />

Shrubl<strong>and</strong>, with total vegetation cover of 19%. The vegetation cover consisted of a shrub<br />

stratum with 14% cover <strong>and</strong> an herbaceous stratum with 5% cover. This relevé had a species<br />

diversity of 16 species. The vegetation in the shrub layer was dominated by Allenrolfea occidentalis,<br />

with 6% cover, <strong>and</strong> the herbaceous layer was dominated by Sporobolus airoides, with 5%<br />

cover.<br />
