Appendix C: Global <strong>and</strong> local plant community descriptions<br />

Petrified Forest National Park. Sporobolus corom<strong>and</strong>elianus Herbaceous <strong>Vegetation</strong> (Park<br />

Special) was identified from one relevé within Petrified Forest National Park. This one relevé<br />

was located on a s<strong>and</strong> dune/s<strong>and</strong>sheet east of the main park road <strong>and</strong> Dry Wash <strong>and</strong> south of<br />

Blue Mesa.<br />

Environmental summary:<br />

Globally. This association has only been described from Petrified Forest National Park. Until<br />

further inventory is completed, there is no global information.<br />

Petrified Forest National Park. This vegetation community occurred at an elevation of 1650<br />

m (5420 ft) with no slope.<br />

USFWS wetl<strong>and</strong> system: Not applicable.<br />

<strong>Vegetation</strong> description:<br />

Globally. This association has only been described from Petrified Forest National Park. Until<br />

further inventory is completed, there is no global information.<br />

Petrified Forest National Park. Only one relevé was classified as Sporobolus corom<strong>and</strong>elianus<br />

Herbaceous <strong>Vegetation</strong> (Park Special), with total vegetation cover of 20%. The vegetation<br />

cover consisted of a shrub stratum with 3% cover <strong>and</strong> an herbaceous stratum with 17% cover.<br />

The species diversity for this relevé was 25 species. The vegetation in the herbaceous layer was<br />

dominated by Sporobolus corom<strong>and</strong>elianus with 8% cover.<br />
