Appendix C: Global <strong>and</strong> local plant community descriptions<br />

Distribution:<br />

Globally. This association has been found in western Colorado <strong>and</strong> eastern Utah. It is likely<br />

found in other places of the arid western U.S.<br />

Petrified Forest National Park. Ericameria nauseosa Desert Wash Shrubl<strong>and</strong> was identified<br />

from eight relevés in Petrified Forest National Park. All of these relevés were associated with<br />

washes <strong>and</strong> occurred on bajadas, playas, <strong>and</strong> talus l<strong>and</strong>forms. They were mostly located in the<br />

northern half of the project area, including east of Chinde Point in the northern wilderness<br />

area, southwest of Pintado Point near the Lithodendron Wash, the northwestern corner of the<br />

park near Digger Wash, <strong>and</strong> on the northern <strong>and</strong> eastern slopes of Chinde Mesa. The association<br />

also occurred in the central neck area of the park north of the Puerco River <strong>and</strong> south of<br />

Interstate 40 near the northern headquarters offce.<br />

Environmental summary:<br />

Globally. This association is found in or adjacent to temporary watercourses on point bars,<br />

basin floors, <strong>and</strong> low stream terraces. St<strong>and</strong>s have been found between 1189 <strong>and</strong> 2104 m<br />

(3900-6900 ft) elevation. Sites are flat to gently sloping (
