4.12.1.7. Probation:<br />
Probation for direct recruits shall be for a period <strong>of</strong> one year extendible twice by further<br />
periods <strong>of</strong> a maximum <strong>of</strong> 6 months on each occasion.<br />
4.12.1.8. Avenue for promotion:<br />
A scientist will be eligible for promotion upto <strong>and</strong> including the level <strong>of</strong> Scientist 'G'<br />
through the process <strong>of</strong> periodical reviews.<br />
4.12.1.9. Power to amend:<br />
Where the Governing Body is <strong>of</strong> the opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do, it<br />
may, by order for reasons to be recorded in writing, amend any <strong>of</strong> the provisions <strong>of</strong> these<br />
<strong>rules</strong> with respect to any class or category <strong>of</strong> staff.<br />
4.12.1.10. Deputation from outside agencies:<br />
Where the services <strong>of</strong> c<strong>and</strong>idate have been obtained on deputation, the period <strong>of</strong> such<br />
deputation will be initially for one to three years, which may be extended for two more<br />
years on year to year basis. No scientist shall be held on deputation in a post in the<br />
<strong>Institute</strong> for a period exceeding five years.<br />
4.13. Recruitment <strong>and</strong> Promotion Rules <strong>of</strong> Technical, Support & Administrative Staff:<br />
In supersession <strong>of</strong> all the <strong>rules</strong> in so far as they relate to the Technical, Support <strong>and</strong><br />
Administrative posts in the <strong>Institute</strong> are concerned, except as respect things done or<br />
omitted to be done before, such supersession the method <strong>of</strong> recruitment to posts <strong>of</strong><br />
Technical, Support <strong>and</strong> Administrative posts in the G.B. <strong>Pant</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> Himalayan<br />
Environment <strong>and</strong> Development will be:<br />
4.13.1. Designation, Grades <strong>and</strong> Minimum Qualifications for the Recruitment <strong>of</strong> Technical,<br />
Support <strong>and</strong> Administrative Staff:<br />
A. Technical <strong>and</strong> support staff<br />
Technical Staff means staff who are expected to use existing scientific <strong>and</strong>/or technical knowledge/<br />
methods/techniques towards solution <strong>of</strong> technical problems. Support Staff means staff who are<br />
expected to provide skilled assistance to technical staff.<br />
The entire Technical <strong>and</strong> Support staff is divided in following four groups, namely: Groups I & II<br />
(Support), Group III (Technical -Laboratory/ Engineering Maintenance) <strong>and</strong> Group IV (Other<br />
Technical)<br />
Group-I - Technical-I: Attendants in any Laboratory, field sites, Library, house keeping,<br />
Technologgy centers, Computer & GIS, Arboretum, Herbarium, Engineering maintenance, etc.<br />
Group-II - Technical-II: Staff in any Laboratory, field sites, Library, Technologgy centers,<br />
Computer & GIS, Arboretum, Herbarium, Engineering maintenance, etc. In addition, the inducted<br />
