Assembling sample racks For easy shipment, sample racks are often folded flat. Follow the procedure below to assemble a sample rack. Edge tab End plate Lugs Slot tabs Figure 2 Assembling a Sample Rack Certain sample racks have numbered tiers (more information: see ‘Sample tray group F’, page 26 and see ‘Sample tray group G’, page27 . When you assemble a rack, make sure that the set of numbers that you require faces upward on the top tier. 1. Place the base on the bench so that the lugs are underneath. 2. Bend up the two end plates. End plate Top tier Middle tier 3. Take the middle tier and snap the edge tabs into the lower set of slots in the end plates. 4. Bend up the slot tabs on the sides of the base and snap the edge tabs of the middle tier into the slots. 5. Assemble the top tier into the respective slots in the same manner.
