7. Click on "Next" to finish the reconfiguration procedure.<br />

8. Double click the Icon "AAWinLab Analyst" to start the reconfigured<br />

spectrometer operating software. After a while the AAWinLab’s initial<br />

screen will be shown with it’s menu line and toolbar.<br />

9. Select "File" - "New" to create a method to test the function and<br />

precision of the X- and Y-drive of the <strong>AS</strong>-<strong>93plus</strong>.<br />

10.Select an element (e.g. Cu) from the "Create New Method" window<br />

and click "OK".<br />

11.Type in the method description. Then select the tab "Calib." and click<br />

on the sub-tab "Autosampler".<br />

12.Select the "Tray Type" (rack group). and select "F" as this is the<br />

standard rack configuration of the <strong>AS</strong>-<strong>93plus</strong>.<br />

Note Figure 14 shows the 3 types of predefined tray types (=rack groups) using<br />

Perkin Elmer racks. The character E,F and G of the tray type designation<br />

identifies the rack group while the following numbers points out the number of the<br />

maximal sample locations of the tray type. Refer to page 25 for details about predefined<br />

"tray types" = rack groups.<br />

If you are using sample racks from other suppliers you have to copy appropriate<br />

"tray files" that are named according the 8.3 character file name convention into<br />

the AA Winlab/Elan directory. "Ready-to-use" tray -files are provided with the <strong>AS</strong>-<br />

93 utility disk or must be prepared as described on page 47.<br />
