The suspects were c<strong>on</strong>victed<strong>on</strong> homicide charges <strong>in</strong> November, but journalists expressed deepskepticism about <strong>the</strong> government’s case.In 2007, a traditi<strong>on</strong>al “gacaca” court had cleared Rugambage of any <strong>in</strong>volvement<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> genocide, accord<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> local journalists.
