Le Soir is seen as liberal and progressive, with politically<br />

dignity, freedom <strong>of</strong> expression and multiculturalism. 11<br />
It is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> most popular francophone newspapers <strong>in</strong><br />
Belgium. 12 The publication is owned by <strong>the</strong> Rossel & Cie<br />

De Staandard<br />

De Staandard is a Flemish daily newspaper traditionally<br />
associated with <strong>the</strong> Christian-Democratic and Flemish Parties.<br />

Flanders News is Belgium’s onl<strong>in</strong>e news website for <strong>the</strong><br />
Flemish Radio- and Television Network Organisation<br />
(VRT). The VRT is <strong>the</strong> public broadcast<strong>in</strong>g network for <strong>the</strong><br />
Flemish Community. 19 Its objective is to be a public broadcast<strong>in</strong>g<br />
company “<strong>of</strong> everyone, for everyone”. 20 The company<br />
provides audiovisual programmes and services to a<br />
wide audience on diverse platforms, and claims to be <strong>in</strong>dependent<br />
<strong>of</strong> commercial or political <strong>in</strong>fluence. 21 The programmes<br />
aim to fur<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Flemish<br />
cultural identity, and a democratic and tolerant society. 22<br />
