7ARESPONSIBLE BANK: INFORMATION ON BNP PARIBAS’ ECONOMIC,SOCIAL, CIVIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITYEconomic responsibility: financing the economy in an ethical mannerDIALOGUE WITH STAKEHOLDERSBNP Paribas’ CSR approach takes account of all its stakeholders and theGroup’s strategy is developed in such a way as to be receptive to theirexpectations:■ Employees’ views on the environmental and social responsibility oftheir company are assessed each year in the Group’s internal survey(173,835 employees surveyed in 2012, with a 71% response rate). In2012, 72% of employees surveyed had a favourable view of the waytheir company exercises its responsibility; this rate has been growingsteadily since 2009.■ BNP Paribas encourages its suppliers to share its conception ofenvironmental and social responsibility. In particular, suppliers areasked to answer a questionnaire in order to evaluate their own socialand environmental performance. At the end of 2012, more than 700analyses of supplier CSR performance had been conducted duringcalls for tender issued by the central team of the Group Procurementdepartment via its e-sourcing platform.■ BNP Paribas meets SRI investors several times a year (29 meetings in2012), to present the Group’s CSR strategy, and it regularly updatesextra-financial analysts on latest developments.■ BNP Paribas maintains a dialogue with numerous NGOs throughout theworld. In 2012, there were 10 meetings between the head-office CSRteam and NGOs. More than 30 dialogue subjects were on the agenda in2012, in areas such as the environmental impact of financing providedby the Group, the financing and investment policies published andapplied by BNP Paribas, human rights, and BNP Paribas’ position onlow-tax countries.During 2012, 6 referrals were made to the BNP Paribas internalmediator for supplier relations.7.2 Economic responsibility: financing theeconomy in an ethical mannerBNP Paribas’s primary mission is to meet its customers’ needs, inparticular by financing the projects of individuals and businesses, whodrive economic development and job creation.
