RIDSDALE SILICA SAND SAMPLER(for extracting a representative sand sample)Length approximately 2000 mmDiameter approximately 35 mmLength approximately 2000 mmDiameter approximately 35 mmUSEWhen testing sand or binder it is important to ensure that the withdrawn sample is perfectlyrepresentative of the whole. In principle the quantity of sample extracted should be larger than the quantity used for theactual testing. The volume of the original sample depends on the weight of the materialnecessary for the intended test, on the uniformity and the quantity of the materials to betested and on the conditions of extracting the sample, for which the sand sampler is used.OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSInsert the sand sampler into sand (sand heap, sand storage bin, wagon), with the apertureuppermost. At the desired depth make a short sharp withdrawal movement. This willrelease the sampling aperture cover. Withdraw the sand sampler from the sand bulk andplace sample into container by raising the sampler through approx 50-60 degrees. Thisaction allows the sample to slide down the inside of the tube and exit by the handle/grip.In order to obtain representative samples, several withdrawals from different locations haveto be made. The original sample should preferably consist of 8-10 withdrawals, which originate from asmany different, regularly spaced spots as possible. It is recommended to mark/identify thesample as well (date, type, supplier, place of sampling, etc.).1
