CORE PERMEABILITY TUBEIGENERAL PRINCIPLESThe Core Permeability Tube provides a means of determining the permeability of dried, baked or cured core sand specimens after they have been stripped from the specimen tube.IIDESCRIPTIONThis specially shaped tube is fitted with an internal rubber lining which can be inflated usingthe small hand pump provided. When inflated, the lining seals the curved surfaces of thespecimen so that, under test, air can only pass between the flat faces. Two small one-way air valves in the body of the tube enable the operator to inflate anddeflate the rubber seal without removing the hand pump each time. The dimensions of the Core Permeability Tube allow it to be used on either the StandardPermeability Meter or the Electric Permmeter.IIITEST PROCEDURE(a)(b)Insert the specimen carefully into the Core Permeability Tube and position so that theflat faces are equidistant from either end of the rubber lining.Attach the hand pump and gently inflate the rubber lining until the specimen isgripped firmly.DO NOT OVER INFLATE(c)(d)Transfer the tube to the Permeability Meter and determine permeability in the usualway.Remove the specimen by releasing the air through the second valve.74
