RIDSDALE CO 2 GASSING ACCESSORIES (AFS)IGENERAL PRINCIPLESThese accessories are for gassing prepared AFS standard compression (2 inch diameter x 2inch height), tensile (1 inch thick central section) and transverse (1 inch x 1 inch x 8 inches)specimens of sand mixtures bonded with sodium silicate binders.IIDESCRIPTIONThe accessories consist of three hollow perforated bases, with gas inlet ferrules, designed toaccommodate the split specimen tube, tensile core box and transverse core boxrespectively.IIIINSTALLATIONConnect the gas inlet ferrules to a controlled flow of CO 2 gas.IVTEST PROCEDURE(A)Compression Test Specimens(a)(b)(c)Prepare an AFS standard 2 inch diameter x 2 inch height test specimen in aSplit Specimen Tube.Place the tube and specimen on the rubber gasket in the gassing accessorywith the specimen at the bottom.Gas for 60 seconds at a flow rate of 5 litres/min* and strip the specimen.53
